Frequently Asked Questions

How does this keyboard test work?

This tool listens for keydown and keyup events from your keyboard. It then visually represents these actions on the screen and logs them. Keys that have been successfully tested will change color.

What is key rollover?

Key rollover (or N-Key Rollover, NKRO) refers to the ability of a keyboard to correctly register multiple key presses at the same time. This test shows you how many keys your keyboard can handle simultaneously.

Why do some keys not light up on the visual keyboard?

The visual keyboard represents a standard layout. Some special keys, multimedia keys, or keys unique to specific keyboards might not have a visual representation here, but their press/release events should still be logged if they are recognized by the browser.

How can I reset the test?

Click the 'Reset Test' button. This will clear the event log, reset the colors of the keys on the visual keyboard, and reset the key rollover statistics.
